Thursday

Three grackles perched on a power line, crowed all at once and then fell silent as I walked under. The largest turned its head and followed my walk past them and around the corner. The smallest dropped acorns which struck the ground in unison with my left foot at my every-other pace.

Wednesday

A bicycle, bound to a tree which has grown to envelop the U-lock, the bicycle stripped to its frame and the tree cut down to a stump.
As I walked North along the sidewalk of Red River Street, looking for North Facing Portents, a yellow leaf moved West to East across my path, fluttering and landed between the shadow and a line between pavement pads.
A sign painted on the pavement, south to north, with red spray paint, by utilities personnel, indicating first the direction of current, and second a pike with a carry handle.

Signs And Portents 1

Two women came out of the door, carrying coffees, one in right hand, one in left.
Both coffees fell to the floor, and both women spoke, swearing, one in Saxon, one in Spanish.
